How we research every case file

An Orígenes case file has to hold up under a magnifying glass. This is the procedure, no frills.

5 steps · each one stamped

  1. Sources

    • Academic: books by historians and peer-reviewed papers.
    • Period records: laws, chronicles, letters and archive records, whenever they can be identified.
    • Reference works: recognized encyclopedias and dictionaries for dates and etymologies.
  2. Myth vs. record

We write down the myth as it circulates, then check the records. When sources disagree we don't pick the funniest version: we explain the debate and mark the case as disputed.

  3. How we use AI

We use artificial intelligence as a research and writing tool. Every fact is checked against sources we link, and every text is reviewed and approved by a person on the team before it is published.

  4. Human verification

Before publishing, a person opens every source and confirms it says what the text claims. The site doesn't ship with unverified sources.

  5. Public corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it and say so, with a date, on the case file and on the corrections page.
